A renovation project that aims to restore an apartment to its original layout? Yes. Why not? Although we generally think of comprehensive renovations as steps forward and constant evolutions of a space to adapt to new trends and needs, sometimes they also retrace their steps. This magnificent home in Cádiz is a good example of that.
And it’s no wonder. Because this tenth-floor penthouse, located practically right on the beach and offering breathtaking views of the vast expanse of the sea, deserved a renovation like this. The most striking change in the project was restoring the terrace to its former glory, as it had been enclosed and haphazardly incorporated into the apartment during previous renovations. What was achieved with this decision? The interior gained a tremendous amount of natural light and, obviously, a vast outdoor space to make the most of the pleasant temperatures that prevail in Cádiz most of the year and all the social life the owners had planned to enjoy in their new home.
The interior also underwent a radical transformation, as it was originally a completely open space where only the bathroom offered any privacy. As part of the project , the team decided to create a splendid, cozy bedroom featuring three custom-built closets, an en-suite bathroom, and a private entrance to the terrace. On the other hand, the living-dining room and the kitchen were fully integrated, yet neither space lost its independence. The zoning of this home was one of the highlights of the renovation, as it maximized the use of space and every square meter to create a two-part living-dining room, a kitchen with a central island, and a separate half-bath and laundry room.
As for the interior design and décor, the team opted for a minimalist style that maintains a consistent aesthetic throughout all the rooms, including the outdoor areas. Functionality was the top priority, and this is evident in the details. For example, the large-format porcelain tile flooring, the indirect lighting designed to create a cozy atmosphere, the hidden induction cooktop in the kitchen, and the motorized blind in the bedroom, which serves two purposes: providing the bedroom with complete privacy while also functioning as a screen for watching movies and TV shows.
The final result, as you can see in the photos or in this video, is captivating at first glance. We achieved exactly what the owners asked for: a second home that is practical, very elegant, and allows them to enjoy all the benefits of Cádiz’s climate right from their own home.
